Immersive Sound Designer

Facebook is looking for an experienced Interaction Sound Designer. Candidates must have a history of creating iconic sonic user experiences, similar in caliber to Portal, Facebook360, Facebook, and Messenger. The role combines functional sound design thinking and execution with a proven ability to break new ground, particularly in new mediums. Candidates must have a core understanding of Interaction Sound design, how it impacts people and their experiences, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of sonic experiences. You will be involved in all aspects of the sound design process, from concept to iteration and refinement, to preparing and implementing assets, to testing performance and approving designs for public release. Candidates must be able to work autonomously as well as collaborate closely with team members and product groups while leading complex projects, across multiple platforms and mediums, through to completion. Strong communication skills are essential to this creative role.

SOUND DESIGNER, INTERACTION SOUND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create unique, memorable, and landmark sound designs for our over two billion users
  • Use your proven understanding of interaction sound design to define and distill broad concepts into actionable tasks and points of interest
  • Lead sound design projects from concept to implementation to completion
  • Act as a source of truth for all things sound including design, design standards, best practices and implementation guidelines

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

What does this role look like?

Do you love using sound design to tell stories? Are you looking to grow your production skills and build a career? We’re looking for a creative, self-motivated sound designer and editor to help develop a podcast show and assist with video productions for Lockheed Martin Space.

This role will offer you the following daily challenges:

  • Help shape and fully understand the creative vision for podcast and video productions.
  • Arrange in-house and vendor resources to support production.
  • Record interviews in studio and the field.
  • Participate in group edits and reviews.
  • Edit interviews using industry standard tools such as Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro, ProTools or equivalent.
  • Coordinate production logistics, such as transcription services, and timelines.
  • Take production notes during recordings.
  • Work with producers and editors in post-production, and scoring.
You’ll also have opportunities to:
  • Work with stakeholders to research, generate, and pitch story ideas.
  • Source and schedule interviewees and talent for podcasts and video productions.
  • Mentor team members develop their skills in sound design and audio engineering.
Basic Qualifications:
To be successful, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, ideally in a visual media discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience, ideally in sound design, audio/video production, and/or show production.
  • Proficiency with sound design and mixing tools (e.g., Audition, Logic, ProTools).
  • Portfolio demonstrating passion for storytelling through audio, video, and/or written content.
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback as part of a highly collaborative work environment.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and execute against multiple deadlines while paying close attention to detail.
Desired Skills:To be successful, ideally, you should also have:
  • Experience with podcast production and distribution processes and tools (e.g., iTunes, Sound Cloud, Spotify, Stitcher).
  • Experience with video editing software (e.g., Premiere, Final Cut).
  • Strong desire for idea generation and creativity.
  • Possess excellent English communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, suppliers, as well as program and executive management.

As an Associate Audio Designer at High Moon Studios you will assist the audio team in recording, editing and implementing temp dialog.  Other duties may include field recording and in game level implementation and audio bug fixing.

About the role

  • Contribute to all aspects of the dialog system, including recording temp VO, editing the dialog assets and implementing them into the dialog tool.
  • Work closely with the Narrative team to make sure we’re getting quality temp VO performances.
  • Collaborate with all other game development disciplines to realize the best possible results
  • Assist with field recordings

About you

  • Industry experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail is a must, will be working with and wrangling many files and systems.
  • Audio recording, processing, and mixing skills – particularly with sound effects and dialog.
  • Programming or scripting skills is a plus.
  • Have proficiency in Reaper, Pro Tools, Sound Forge, and audio plugins such as Waves, SoundToys, etc.

  • 10+ years of game development experience with 5 shipped AAA titles on both PC and console.
  • At least 3 released AAA game titles on which you were a primary audio systems contributor.
  • Experience modifying and integrating game engines and middleware.
  • Experience developing components in at least three different game engines and targeting both PC and console.
  • Facility with additional languages: C#, Java, scripting languages.
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Advanced software engineering skills, including the ability to write high quality, maintainable, robust code in C++.
  • Good communication skills: Able to communicate with audio designers effectively and work efficiently on shared projects with designers, artists, testers, and other developers.
