About David Schmidt
Re-recording mixer | Acapella Audio | USA | North CarolinaI’ve been doing pro sound for TV and Film for over 20 years. I started my audio career after graduation from American University in Washington, DC with a major and Audio Technology and minor in Music. I began recording and producing music and mixed live sound across the DC area.
I made the jump to sound for picture and joined the staff of MVI Post where I mixed for The Discovery Channel, The National Geographic Channel, and The History Channel. 5.1 surround sound mixes for Discovery HD Theater I mixed were some of the first Dolby Digital Surround HD productions to appear on television. I also mixed the BBC productions of Walking with Dinosaurs and the live Raising the Titanic with Jim Cameron. I directed hundreds of narration sessions, selecting thousands of music cuts, and editing tens of thousands of sfx in productions for film, TV, corporate, radio, and the web.
In 2004, I opened Acapella Audio in Asheville, North Carolina to better serve my clients. I work with for long time clients from the DC area as well as many local and national clients. My post-production mix, draws on my studio’s high-quality sfx library. In addition to his mixing, I am frequently called upon for location sound. I’ve recorded location sound for clients as diverse as HGTV, Speed Channel, and Good Morning America.
