About Gijs van Amelsvoort
Composer | Gijs van Amelsvoort Music | NetherlandsGijs van Amelsvoort (1990) is an aspiring composer from Utrecht (the Netherlands). His music has been serving as an underscore on numerous TV programmes, varying from BBC docs from the NHU such as Planet Earth UK, Grizzly Bear Cubs & Me and Earth Great Rivers, all the way to populair shows like First Dates, Top Gear, Opsporing Verzocht, and My Kitchen Rules. Gijs started out as a classical trained pianist, and graduated from the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2013. After working as an assistant-composer at We Write Music in London, he has been writing commissioned music for documentaries, short films, games, advertising, as well as production music for several labels including Reliable Source Music (Intervox), Zest (Deep East Music), and Foxhole Records (BMG). In 2016 he co-founded the music & sounddesign company Foxhole Music.
His work was nominated at i.a. the Soundtrack_Cologne European Talent Award in 2012, The Dutch Film Festival (NFF), Nijmegen Go Short and BUMA Music In Motion Young Talent Award.
