Kjetil Høidal (b. 1969) is a Norwegian composer working with immersive sound, field recordings, and acousmatic music. Educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the University of Stavanger, he has created works for festivals such as Stavanger Speculum and institutions like Henie Onstad Kunstsenter. He has also toured with the percussion/electronics trio Serendipity, known for their innovative blend of rhythm and live sound manipulation. In recent years, Høidal has focused on eco-acoustics, exploring the sonic dimensions of natural environments. Through field recordings and sound-based studies of ecological systems, he seeks to deepen the listener’s awareness of the environment and its fragile balance. His work bridges the worlds of contemporary composition and environmental art, inviting audiences to engage with sound as both a musical and ecological experience.
