About Louis Cross

Composer | UK

Louis Cross is a UK-based composer for film, television, video games and theatre, whose work blends cinematic storytelling with innovative sound design. His compositions explore texture, atmosphere and emotion, combining electronic sound design with instrumental performance to create distinctive musical worlds for visual media.

Louis studied BA (Hons) Songwriting at the British Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) in Manchester, graduating with a 2:1, before undertaking an MA in Composition for Film and Television at the University of Bristol. His work spans a range of media including short films, theatre productions, exhibitions and interactive digital projects. Notable credits include composing for the theatre production VOICE. Sealed. Shut (Young Identity), assistant composer for a multilingual adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed in Manchester and London, and composing for short films such as Scurrier and SIT. His music has also featured in exhibitions including Serial Skiller in London and Music In Cosmos at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol. In interactive media, he composes for projects including the Minecraft Music School server and the upcoming game Two Defuse.

Alongside his composition work, Louis is a dedicated educator and researcher. He works as a private music tutor, teaching piano, guitar, music theory and composition, and has contributed as a composer and educator to the AHRC-funded research project Minecraft Music School at the University of Salford. His academic contributions also include research into tonal theory and scale systems.

Louis is an active member of The Ivors Academy, the Musicians’ Union and PRS. As a composer living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, he is also a passionate advocate for accessibility and representation in the creative industries, working to create more opportunities for disabled musicians within media composition.
