About
Sound designer | National Institute of Design Ahmedabad | IndiaHitesh Chaurasia is a graduate of Satyajit Ray Film and TV Institute, Kolkata. He has cumulative work experience of over 15 years as a Sound Designer, Filmmaker, and Educator. He has 15 feature films, many documentaries, short films, Television shows, Web series, commercials, and Radio Dramas to his credit as Sound Designer. He has worked on various projects for Fox Films, BBC Radio, NFDC, PSBT, TISS, Y films, 92.7 BIG FM, Kaleidoscope, Channel V, and Sony Mix. He started Dantkatha Media- a sound design studio to explore the possibilities of sound in different media/forms. The studio also produced digital content, short films, and web series.
He received the prestigious V. Shantaram Best Sound Award for the feature film Gajar and a Screen Best Sound Award nomination for Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain. Second Best- his short film as writer/director has been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival of South Asia and the 20th International Children’s Film Festival of India. He has been an academic council member of SRFTI Kolkata. He conducted workshops at Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune, MIT Film School, Pune, and Sound Ideas Academy, Mumbai. He is currently an Associate Senior Faculty with the Film and Video Communication discipline at the NID Ahmedabad. He teaches Sound Design across various design disciplines, encouraging students to explore sound as a medium and material. Voice in Indian cinema, sound design for 360-degree and VR films are some of his current areas of interest/research.
