Sound Designer
Company: Happiest Dark Corner
Location: Remote
Job description

We are developing A Cat’s Manor, a story-rich 2.5D adventure game set in a mysterious manor, where players embody a cat with a hand for a tail. The game blends surreal imagery, atmosphere, and narrative-driven exploration into a unique interactive experience. The game’s art direction is well-established with an art style that uses 2D art for environments, and stylized low-poly 3D models for characters. Created in Unity, the game is targeting release on PC and PlayStation platforms in mid-2027.

The Role

We’re looking for a talented Sound Designer to create and implement high-quality audio for characters, environments, UI, and gameplay. Working closely with the creative lead, you’ll review and remaster existing assets, ensure consistent quality and spatially layered SFX, and help establish an efficient Unity audio pipeline. The role requires a self-driven, feedback-ready designer with experience shipping at least one indie game within a comparable genre or setting, creating original sounds, and implementing audio in-engine using FMOD. The Sound Designer will define the audio personality of the game — from environmental presence to combat feedback to subtle narrative cues and atmospheric ambience. They are responsible for shaping a world that players feel through sound.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement high-quality sound effects for characters, environments, UI, and gameplay events.
  • Review, organise, and remaster existing audio assets—SFX and music—ensuring consistent quality, proper spatial layering, legal use, and effective reuse of high-quality samples.
  • Collaborate with the creative lead for a cohesive audio direction.
  • Establish our audio pipeline for integrating and optimizing audio from FMOD to Unity using industry best practices.
Requirements
  • Proven industry experience with at least one shipped indie game title on PC/console, preferably in a comparable genre and setting.
  • Experience with FMOD is required.
  • Experience working in Unity game engine to implement audio, configure files and link up data is required.
  • Creative sound designer with an eye (or ear!) for atmosphere.
  • Experience creating original sounds for game titles.
  • Self-driven and able to work with minimal guidance.
  • Receptive to feedback and iteration.
  • Portfolio/reel demonstrating range and quality.
To Apply

Please send an email with your resume, portfolio and relevant experience. Include “Sound Designer” in the subject line.

Audio Designer
Company: Canva
Location: Sydney, Australia
Job description

Hey, g’day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you’re probably keen to find out what’s on offer, so we’ll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

  • Champion the right track, right moment across Canva surfaces—partner with designers in planning and turn briefs into clear, usable shortlists.
  • Curate and maintain golden sets with simple accept/reject principles and negatives that teams can apply consistently.
  • Improve findability: tighten naming, tags, and lightweight taxonomy; publish practical search recipes and exemplars.
  • Review usage/search signals and turn insights into action (refresh shortlists, propose metadata fixes, retire weak picks).
  • Consult across teams on Audio craft: define rubrics and run quality reviews (human-in-the-loop) for AI-assisted selection; advise on principles & ethics and document clear guardrails.
  • Support AI-assisted surfacing: supply exemplar sets and negatives, sanity-check model choices, and propose simple, implementable rules to improve retrieval.
  • Create playbooks, checklists, and short trainings so non-experts can select confidently and safely.
You’re probably a match if
  • You demonstrate advanced audio craft across music, SFX, and voice, and turn that judgment into clear, usable guidance for others.
  • You work autonomously in cross-functional environments—prioritising well, unblocking yourself, and keeping momentum with multiple stakeholders.
  • You communicate to different audiences (design, product, engineering, partners) with crisp rationales and tidy docs that drive alignment.
  • You turn signals into action—using simple data (usage, search terms, feedback) to refine recommendations and rules.
  • You improve discoverability through sensible titles, tags, and lightweight taxonomy; spreadsheets don’t scare you.
  • You can define principles, golden sets, and negatives that make selection consistent and scalable.
  • You’re fluent with AI in creative workflows: comfortable evaluating tools/vendors, writing prompts/presets when useful, running human-in-the-loop reviews, and applying AI principles & ethics (safety, copyright, likeness/consent, privacy).
  • You consult across teams—facilitating rubrics, quality reviews, and short trainings that level up non-experts.
About the team

You’ll join Content Studio → Elements, specializing in Audio. We partner closely with template designers and adjacent product teams to make sure creators find the right sound quickly—every time. It’s a fast, collaborative space where you’ll help shape foundational practices for selection quality, metadata, and discoverability, and scale them through clear guidance and high-trust collaboration.
