Senior Sound Designer
Company: Tonally
Location: Helsinki, Finland
Job description

At Tonally we create worlds with sound. The kind of worlds that the players embrace in the moment, and then remember forever.

We aim to be recognised in the creative game business as a world leading game audio company. Our dream projects are ambitious, outstanding and unique games made with equally unique and ambitious teams.

Whatever the scale, our mission is the same: to make players feel something real. We combine imagination, precision and heart, creating game worlds that sound alive and deeply human.

We’re an internationally acclaimed, award-winning team of two composers and a sound designer, involved in the audio of AAA giants such as Alan Wake 2 and Returnal, and creating the iconic music and sound design for the mobile hits Clash of Clans and Merge Mansion, accompanied with unique indie projects like the recently released The Last Caretaker and Silence of the Siren.

And now we’re looking for an exceptional, creative sound designer to join our journey, grow with us, shape our sound, and help us set a new standard for what game audio can be.

What you’ll do
  • Record, design and implement high-quality audio for a wide variety of game projects – from mobile to AAA.
  • Work closely with our sound designers, composers, partners to deliver a shared vision, with cohesive and emotionally engaging audio experiences.
  • Use industry-standard middleware such as FMOD and Wwise, Unreal and Unity, along with game specific proprietary tools to bring our sounds to life in-game.
  • Collaborate directly with game teams to solve challenges and integrate sound effectively into gameplay.
  • Take ownership of your craft, meet deadlines, and polish every detail to the Tonally standard of excellence.
  • Work with us to define the direction Tonally takes and commit to the process of getting there.
Who you are
  • You’re excited about making Tonally go forward with our mission, work together with us in planning the future of the company and moving towards something great.
  • You’re motivated by the work itself: the craft, the process and the end result that moves players.
  • You’re pro-active and can creatively & independently solve problems also in non-ideal situations.
  • You’re passionate, reliable and unafraid of hard work when it’s needed to make something truly amazing.
  • You have shipped multiple games across different platforms and genres – from mobile to console or PC.
  • You’re fluent with audio middleware (FMOD, Wwise) and understand technical integration pipelines in game engines like Unity and Unreal.
  • You thrive in both creative and practical environments – equally comfortable designing in-studio or capturing sounds in the field.
Why Tonally

We’re a small, highly experienced team with big ambitions & a lot of love and passion for what we’re doing.

At Tonally, you’ll get to work on a variety of projects, from global franchises to experimental new worlds, and your creative fingerprint will actually matter.

You’ll collaborate directly with senior composers and sound designers who have shaped the music & sound of games millions of people play every day. We’re open and down-to-earth, but also ready to take creative risks and to face new challenges to make our craft even better.

If you want to build something meaningful with people who truly care about the craft of game audio, this is the place.

What we offer
  • A collaborative and creatively fulfilling work environment with a flat hierarchy.
  • Opportunities to work on both high-profile world class brands and independent passion projects (and everything in between!).
  • Freedom to experiment, take creative risks and shape the future of Tonally’s sound.
  • Flexible hybrid work model (Helsinki, Finland base is preferred, but not required).
  • Competitive salary and stock option plan.
  • The chance to grow with us – not just as a sound designer, but as part of the team building one of the most exciting new game audio brands in the world.
