At Turn 10 Studios, our vision is to continue to grow Forza into the top automotive entertainment brand in the world. The award-winning development team behind the successful Forza franchise are looking for a SOUND DESIGNER to join their in-house audio team that will help shape the soundscape of the next Forza Motorsport title. As a Sound Designer at Turn 10, you'll work closely with the Audio Director and the rest of the Audio team in a hybrid workplace environment to develop class-leading interactive audio experiences that support the goals of the project. This role involves combining an understanding of sound design, middleware integration, audio signal flow, creative problem solving and execution in a team-centric environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design game-ready audio assets to a creative brief and technical specifications.
  • Integrate audio assets into the game using a combination of commercially available middleware and proprietary tools.
  • Balance quality with efficiency, while managing timely deliveries in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Able to take direction and incorporate feedback.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in film/games or related field.
  • Experience with interactive audio integration with audio middleware.
  • Knowledge of designing sounds using a DAW.
  • Cultivated aesthetic sense and keen ear for detail.
  • Understanding of audio signal flow, DSP and terminology.
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new/proprietary software.
Preferred Skills and Experiences
  • Creative and technical skills in interactive game audio production using Fmod Studio.
  • Working experience with Unreal, Unity, or other game engines.
  • Automotive enthusiast with a passion for racing games.
  • Familiarity with the Forza universe, including Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon.
  • Broad knowledge in sound designing, editing and mixing using a DAW.
  • Familiarity with development kits and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding and knowledge of market trends and best practices.
  • Previous experience working with VO and dialogue systems.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to all aspects of sound design, including design, edit, mix and implement sound effects in line with the creative vision.
  • Assist the audio team in improving game audio features and tool development.
  • Ability to perform basic testing, debugging and various optimization methods for game audio systems.
  • Assist in field recording, dialogue processing, music editing, sound library maintenance.
  • Interface with other departments to find the best possible audio solutions to challenges.
  • Develop and cultivate their sound design skills over time.
Requirements:
  • 1+ years of relevant industry experience and at least 1 commercially shipped game with excellent sounding audio.
  • Experience in game audio implementation using Wwise via Unreal Engine 4.
  • Ability to create a wide range of SFX, from realistic to abstract.
  • Experience in commonly available audio tools and software such as Reaper, Nuendo, Pro Tools, Sound Forge, etc.
  • Basic mixing, loudness measuring, and final audio polish skills.
  • General understanding of interactive music composition, music editing and mastering.
  • Can work well with a team as well as independently.

    Pluses:
  • Experience with VR/AR development.
  • Familiarity with 3D spatialized audio.
  • Experience mixing in 5.1 and 7.1 surround for games and linear media.
  • Some programming, scripting, or UE4 Blueprint experience.
  • Proficiency in Reaper and Sound Forge.
  • Bachelor's degree in either Music Technology, Audio Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
