Rocksteady Studios is looking for a Sound Designer
to join our studio, working with an experienced team on an exciting AAA
project, crafting immersive worlds and emotionally resonant player
experiences. This role is ideal for someone stepping up from a junior
position or growing confidently into an intermediate-level sound design
role and who connects with our audio team vision:
We craft powerful connections between players and the game, amplifying emotional, narrative, and gameplay moments to create experiences that resonate with meaning. We are considered, conscientious and deeply thoughtful about our craft. We care about our work and the work of our colleagues throughout the studio.
You will have experience of producing audio for interactive media with a proven track record of delivering high-quality audio assets and contributing to collaborative development. You appreciate that outstanding sound design is the result of a strong creative vision and craft supported by the effective use of technical tools. You understand the balance required to succeed in a modern development studio. You demonstrate creative initiative and technical independence when it comes to your everyday work.
As a generalist sound designer, you’ll work across a wide range of tasks from SFX design to implementing audio in-engine, supporting music workflows, and contributing to dialogue editing and design. We don’t expect expertise in everything, but we value curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
Key ResponsibilitiesCraft
- Designing immersive soundscapes and gameplay-reactive audio within allocated timeframes and feedback loops.
- Implementing assets in-engine with attention to quality and stability.
- Participating actively in milestone reviews and retrospectives, sharing insight and receiving feedback.
- Proactively engaging with other departments to support gameplay and narrative.
- Communicating effectively across disciplines and contributing to workflow processes.
- Working with team members and sharing knowledge where helpful.
- Managing your own sprint tasks with accuracy and transparency.
- Contributing to audio pipeline improvements and tool feedback.
- Tracking and documenting work consistently.
- Ability to design high quality SFX with a thoughtful and craft-driven approach, including source recording, editing and manipulating audio using a DAW and common processing techniques (EQ, compression, reverb, etc…). Experience with any DAW is valued. Pro Tools is our primary platform with Reaper and Logic also being used for some tasks.
- Technical implementation skills with a proven track record in a game engine and audio middleware environment (familiarity with Wwise and UE5 is preferred).
- Experience with debugging audio, play‑testing, and identifying issues throughout development.
- Familiarity with in-game profiling tools and an understanding of how to use this data to develop an optimised performance.
- Basic understanding of technical concepts to support communicating with audio programmers.
- Ability to advocate for ideas constructively and contribute to creative discussions, remaining focused and organised while delivering high-quality work under production deadlines.
- Practical knowledge of common field recording techniques and tools (microphones, field recorders, etc…). Our sound design practice greatly values source recording. We’re seeking someone eager to grow their skills with us.
- Practical experience with analogue and digital signal flows. You have an appreciation of how to use outboard gear, and plugins to achieve high‑quality results.
Hybrid Working – This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
