Summary:

The Entertainment Sound Tech Content Creation group in the Dolby Barcelona office is looking for an intern willing to write, extend and test software that enables the next generation of Dolby Cinema, Home Theater and Music technologies.

The qualified candidate will work in coordination with our local teams to develop audio content creation products (audio processing libraries, UIs or audio lug-ins) or develop proof-of-concepts around audio delivery solutions, XR, or game engine audio.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement improvements to audio and file processing components, continuous integration/delivery infrastructure and UI components, in collaboration with developers and testers at Dolby Barcelona,
  • Work with senior engineers to plan, document and execute code improvements,
  • Present and document results,
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices regarding code quality, software optimization and continuous delivery.
Requirements:
  • Solid skills in C/C++ programming,
  • Experience in Python programming and shell scripting,
  • Experience with various software environments like Windows, Linux and macOS, including Unix/Linux terminals,
  • Knowledge of audio signal processing concepts.
Nice to have:
  • Experience with Git version control and associated workflows,
  • Experience with software performance analysis techniques and optimization strategies,
  • Knowledge of spatial audio and professional audio workflows,
  • Passion for audio and media production and related tools.
Eligibility:
  • Currently studying: Computer Science, Audiovisual or Electric Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or similar, with programming/scripting experience,
  • Available to work part-time for the duration of the internship (approximately March-August 2024); the selected candidate is expected to work at least some of that time on-site from the Barcelona office.

Job description

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for an Audio Director to join the development of a new IP.

You will improve, develop, and innovate rendering techniques for AAA titles.  You will work closely with engineers and artists to bring excitement to life on the screen. 

The ideal candidate will have expertise in audio design and production, with proficiency in sound design, music production, and voice production. Additionally, they should be skilled at managing, developing, and mentoring audio staff.

As a leader on the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.

You’ll help us by…
  • Oversee the design and implementation of all audio for the project.
  • Supervise and maintain the highest level of quality for all audio assets.
  • Design and produce sound effects.
  • Produce music.
  • Produce VO content.
  • Oversee outsource audio services for sound, Foley, music, VO, Cinematics, etc.
  • Oversee implementation of audio assets and assist in developing integration tools.
  • Act as an expert in proprietary pipelines and integration processes.
  • Manage internal audio teams, external audio vendors and schedules.
  • Explain and demonstrate technical details and express clear aesthetic qualities and requirements.
  • Innovate and adapt to drive new Audio features. Develop methodologies for continuous improvement across the department.
  • Work with the team to define an effective audio style and execution across the project.
  • Define and advocate for the audio technology that will create the best experience for players.
  • Proactively identify and define ways to improve the audio experience across a growing spectrum of features.
  • Work with the audio team and across disciplines to clearly define and articulate goals.
  • Lead by example and provide both motivation and inspiration to other team members.

  • Minimum of 6+ years working on audio for multiple AAA titles, indie projects, or related fields
  • 3+ years working as a leader in the field of audio.
  • Experience as a lead or director with proven leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Expertise and understanding of the entire audio process, including sound effects, voice over, music, and audio system technology.
  • Knowledge of game engine technology and audio middleware solutions.
  • Skilled in effective communication across all disciplines and departments.
  • A passion and deep understanding of the impact and role that audio plays in the overall player experience.
Bonus points for…
  • Experience with AAA games
  • Major recognition in your field of work
  • Having made your own game as a side or indie project
  • Experience in adjacent fields such as narrative design, environment art, programming, etc.
  • Adept at interacting with and responding to feedback.
  • Coding or scripting skills.
