The Sound Designer at ARVORE is responsible for creating immersive and engaging sound experiences for our games. This professional works closely with the development team, using their expertise in sound design to enhance the narrative, atmosphere and gameplay of games. Your responsibilities include creating impactful sound effects, and efficiently implementing these elements into the game environment. Furthermore, the Sound Designer actively participates in the prototyping and review phases, ensuring sound quality and cohesion in all aspects of the projects.

MAIN CROSS-FUNCTIONAL ACTIVITIES:
  • Design high-quality in-game audio assets and supplementary audio content, as well as planning, creating, and implementing game audio systems.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and technical/creative teams to understand the vision and requirements for the project’s sound.
  • Facilitate collaboration with external audio teams, serving as a liaison between them and your project’s team.
  • Use middleware tools to implement and mix dynamic audio systems.
  • Enhance the quality and reduce the size of audio files by selecting optimal extensions and compression formats, thereby ensuring each project achieves optimized size without compromising sound quality.
  • Comprehensively document all audio-related information within a project in a structured manner, ensuring ease of access for the team to reference when needed.
MUST HAVE:
  • Vast experience in creating original sound effects for interactive digital experiences, using tools like synthesis and foley.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Create mixed reality software solutions to provide a realistic training environment that combines both a physical and virtual world.
  • Work closely with and integrate 3rd party headsets and other VR/AR/MR hardware and expand our training device feature sets and product lines.
  • The team is agile, test-driven, and multi-disciplinary. The position incorporates all facets of software development from communication, requirements assessment, research, design, development, testing, integration, peer review, documentation, maintenance, and end user support.
  • Design and test aircraft simulator sound software applications, C/C++,

What does an Audio Technical Artist do?
As a Technical Artist on the Audio and Movie team, you will report to Frostbite’s Technical Art Manager. You will directly contribute to and push the boundaries of the newest tools and workflows that Frostbite releases to our community of game teams. You’ll help make our development process more creator-centric by gathering feedback from content creators throughout EA and working with engineers on the Frostbite team to improve the usability of content workflows and help steer the design of new features.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide insights using your experience and perspective as an audio content creator to inform the design of new tools and workflows.

  • Build compelling audio tech demos to demonstrate the power of the engine and inspire the community to achieve their creative vision.

  • Build content for our Testers to ensure stable and high-quality features 

  • Write documentation and create training materials to help educate the Frostbite community.

  • Work with audio directors and artists on game teams to advise on solutions and best practices to achieve their project’s vision for sound design.

  • Support and guide the migration of game content to utilize new features and technologies developed by the Frostbite engineering team.

  • Keep up-to-date with industry standards and products related to audio and movie production in game development to help inform workflow and feature development.

Required Experience
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard audio tools (e.g. Pro-Tools, Ableton Live)

  • Industry experience in game sound design (e.g. mixing, implementation, asset creation, sound design)

  • 2+ years experience with sound implementation in games, either using Unreal, Unity, FMOD, Wwise, or equivalent toolset

Bonus Experience

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
    • $89,300 – $123,000 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees.
