This is an opportunity to join the Qualcomm Acoustics team and contribute to the development of exciting technologies. The successful candidate will have working knowledge and/or research experience in one or more of the following topics: spatial audio capture and reproduction, electroacoustic test and measurement, electro-acoustic transducer design, machine learning for audio and acoustics simulation including lumped parameter, finite element and boundary element methods. While candidates may cover a diverse range of academic backgrounds and experience, successful candidates will have a passion for audio/acoustics, be self-motivated, curious and comfortable working within an acoustics R&D lab environment. Daily activities include design, simulation, prototyping and evaluation of new audio and acoustic technologies.
Minimum Qualifications / Skills- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Acoustics or related field.
- Skilled in MATLAB and/or Python.
- 4+ years in an acoustics/audio engineering role
- Experienced in use of COMSOL for electroacoustic analysis
- Knowledge of 3D modeling
- C/C++
- Max/MSP
- Strong background in Spatial Audio/ Higher Order Ambisonics
- Working audio DSP knowledge
- Strong audio data preparation and presentation skills (FFT, spectrograms, filtering and denoising, audio feature extraction techniques, etc.)
- Solid understanding of Psychoacoustic fundamentals
- Experienced with use of electroacoustic test and measurement tools like HATS, Audio Precision, HEAD Acoustics, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- Works in the lab, can use hazardous chemicals (e.g., glue, machinery).
