As a Junior Audio Programmer you'll be able work with a variety of different games (both live and unannounced) within our Self Publishing Division. You'll work with these games to design, develop and maintain sound related systems within our proprietary game engine. This involves using our in-house sound development tools as well as the Wwise middleware API and our C++ game engine code.

You'll work closely with our game teams and sound designers to produce great open world games and you will be an important pillar in our efforts to innovate within the area of sound.
Combined with hands on work you're offered personalized mentorship by our Principal Sound Architect – a great way to leverage your career and knowledge by learning from someone who has been instrumental for the delivery of games like Just Cause, Mad Max and Rage 2.

Technical Audio Designer

We’re looking for an experienced technical audio designer who can help us create emotionally compelling & technically sophisticated immersive audio for our premium location-based entertainment virtual and mixed reality interactive experiences.

In this role, you will, under the creative supervision of the Audio Director, be the primary point of contact for audio on interactive projects. You will play a key role in overseeing important pillars of these projects. Core responsibilities for this role are technical, but there are opportunities to contribute to the asset creation process. You will be involved in virtually every aspect of audio content development and, as a member of a growing independent studio, you will make a significant impact on the creation of our projects and have your voice heard throughout development.

Core Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Contribute to all aspects of authoring, implementation, and spatial mixing for interactive immersive experiences
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors, the Audio Director, and the Head of Interactive to assess needs and determine technical approaches for projects
  • Collaborate with Interactive Team to design and develop audio tools & runtime systems based on creative vision and technical needs
  • Execute & deliver upon audio features and ensure high audio quality bar is met throughout production
  • Participate in the prototyping of interactive mechanics, prototypes and experimentation of features in engine and offline via linear sound design and proof of concept previews to demonstrate to the wider team the intent of new audio features and systems
  • Create and maintain audio-related documentation to ensure smooth day-to-day execution
  • Inform the design of sound assets to quality specifications with foresight of implementation methodology
  • Manage audio projects and assets, including data organization, naming conventions, loudness standards, sound class hierarchy, etc.
  • Participate in developing new or enhanced technical workflows and tools
  • Identify opportunities to improve overall quality of interactive experiences using sound, providing both creative and technical feedback
  • Proactively seek out & fix issues present in the existing interactive audio implementations and collaborate with QA Team to troubleshoot & fix audio related bugs
Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of experience in game audio or interactive virtual reality development with at least three shipped titles or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with advanced authoring methods using middleware (Wwise) and/or directly in Unity or Unreal native audio systems
  • Experience implementing real-time, optimized audio directly in-engine using visual scripting tools such as Blueprints in Unreal
  • Experience with version control systems (Perforce, Git, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of DAWs such as Pro Tools or Reaper and industry standard plugins and toolsets (iZotope, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of audio signal processing, mixing, sample rates, data compression, filters, reverbs, etc.
  • Experience with scripting (C#, JavaScript, Python, or other languages)
  • Good understanding of all common spatial audio concepts such as HRTF & binaural rendering and sound propagation
  • Understanding of how to craft presence in VR using spatialized audio in an interactive environment
  • Solid grasp of loudness specifications and experience with mixing final audio using middleware and/or in-engine tools (ASWG, etc)
