Location: Los Angeles, CA, US
Job description

We're looking to build a world-class team of game-makers: folks bursting with creativity, who balance candor with compassion, and always, always, always hold themselves and their peers accountable to what's best for players.

We are currently looking for an Audio Director to join us and help craft the sonic landscape for our studio, starting with our ambitious first project. As we embark on the creation of an entirely new intellectual property (IP), we're looking for a visionary Audio Director to lead all aspects of audio production, as well as play an individual contributor role during the early phases of development. At Believer, our signature “Studio Style” will be a harmonious blend of art, narrative, audio, and music. We feel that each of these parts is equally important when it comes to creating the absolute best creative experience for our players. You will report to our Chief Creative Officer.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop a creative audio vision that aligns with our studio's artistic and narrative direction, enhancing player immersion and engagement
  • Become a necessary part of our prototype development team, implementing first takes of sound and music to help establish our world
  • Lead, inspire, and manage a team of audio professionals, including sound designers, voiceover artists, and composers, promoting a collaborative work environment
  • Oversee the creation and integration of immersive sound effects and ambient audio to enrich gameplay and storytelling
  • Collaborate with voice actors and casting directors to ensure voice performances that bring our characters and narrative to life
  • Work with composers to create a captivating musical score that not only complements but becomes an important part of our game's universe
  • Stay at the forefront of audio technology and tools, ensuring the audio production pipeline is efficient and aligned with industry best practices
  • Collaborate closely with our art and narrative teams to ensure seamless integration of audio elements into the overarching creative vision
You Are a Great Fit If:
  • You have 8+ years of professional experience in game audio, including 3+ years in a leadership role overseeing all aspects of audio production
  • You have a creative vision for audio in games, demonstrated by a portfolio showcasing your ability to create memorable and immersive audio experiences
  • You want to jump in and kick-start the audio/music exploration during prototype development, establishing early takes on a studio sound
  • You are proficient in audio software, middleware, and game engines, with an understanding of audio technology
  • You have a deep love for music and understand its profound role in storytelling, gameplay, and player engagement within the gaming industry

If you're ready to redefine the audio landscape and contribute to our studio's signature style, we invite you to join us on this exciting journey. Submit your resume, cover letter, and a link showcasing your best work.

Please note – research shows that certain groups of candidates may not apply to jobs unless they meet every single requirement. If you see yourself at Believer but don't check every single requirement, we would still love to be in touch with you for current and future opportunities.
