We’re looking for a Game Composer to join our Interactive team and bring our game to life through a high-quality score! You’ll excel in the creation of both diegetic and non-diegetic game composition, and work to create strong, memorable themes and leitmotifs for game locations, features, and characters. For this role, we’re particularly looking for someone familiar with the fantasy genre and rustic, earthy folk music, preferably with a UK/EU slant.

We are also looking for an Audio Designer, and we are open to the right person filling both roles. This would boost the hours to full time fixed term.

What will you be doing?
  • Plan, conceptualise, and create original music and ambience for our IP game project in a DAW
  • Collaborating with game vision holders, the design team and our audio designer on motifs, tone, scale, and mood
  • Create and establish audio pipelines to integrate your music within the game
  • Working closely with the team and ensuring you’re delivering clear and frequent updates on your work
  • Prepare audio for marketing collateral including trailers, announcements, websites, and any other requirements that may arise.
  • Collaborate with the Game Audio Designer on the overall audio direction of the game
  • Being active across our communication channels, which includes either face-to-face or zoom meetings
What we’re looking for from you
  • Clear communication skills and ability to compose within strict IP thematic requirements
  • Proficient experience creating scores for film or games
  • Professional level proficiency creating soundtracks using a DAW
  • Working knowledge of virtual instruments
  • Self-managing, with accurate gauges for timelines and deliverables.
  • Game composition experience preferred
  • Access to your own sound studio and/or tools

The Assistant Sound Designer will report to the Lead Cinematic Artist and the Sound Designer. His/her missions will be the following:
  • Design and edit original audio content to accompany the creation of assets for external communication.
  • Collaborate with the creative marketing team to create a coherent and original sound design.
  • Assist the Sound Designer in the creation of audio components for video assets.
The Sound Designer Assistant will be particularly involved in the creation, processing and integration of sound assets for:
  • Atmospheres
  • Musical accompaniment
  • The sound of the vehicles
  • The sound of the various visual effects.
Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of Pro Tool
  • Mastery of the different techniques and plugins dedicated to audio post-processing.
  • Good knowledge of audio equipment in general.

  • Knowledge of additional software (Cubase, Ableton etc.) would be a plus.

Your Mission in Funcom

Our audio team in Oslo looking for a talented and experienced Junior Audio Designer to help create compelling and immersive content together with the rest of the audio and dev teams! In this role, you will be tasked with creating, designing and editing enhancing, high -quality audio content and in-game implementation in accordance with each project’s design goals.

A successful Audio Designer in Funcom has not only an excellent ear for details and a strong creative drive, but also well-rounded experience in all aspects of audio design and production.

  • Advanced experience with audio software such as, REAPER, Pro Tools and Izotope
  • General understanding of Unreal Engine.
  • Solid location recording skills in studio and external environments, SFX and Foley
  • Good knowledge of audio implementation for online games and surround mixing techniques
  • An analytical and solutions-oriented approach to design and curation of sounds
  • Passion for video games and the gaming industry
  • Solid communication skills, drive, determination, and persistence to make things happen
