As an Associate Audio Designer at High Moon Studios, you will assist the audio team in recording, editing and implementing sound effects. There will be a heavy focus on in-game implementation and audio bug fixing.

Your Mission:
  • Design sound effects to be used in-game.
  • Sound asset implementation using proprietary tools and scripting logic.
  • Collaborate with all other game development disciplines to realize the best possible results.
  • Assist with field recordings.
Player Profile:
  • Industry experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail is a must, will be working with and wrangling many files and systems.
  • Audio recording, processing, and mixing skills – particularly with sound effects and dialog.
  • Programming or scripting skills is a plus.
  • Have proficiency in Reaper, Pro Tools, Sound Forge, and audio plugins such as Waves, SoundToys, etc.

What’s the job?

As our Sound Designer you’ll be responsible for the artistic and technical audio content of our mobile games, PC/Console games as well as advertising and marketing content. You will create or compose original sound, used as temporary or final assets (SFX, ambiance, music).

  • Creation and enhancement of in-game audio within our mobile, PC and console games.
  • Producing original SFX and music using the best tools in the industry. (Pro Tools, Sound Forge etc )
  • Working with external studios to:

  • Tactfully provide advice and guidance on audio design

  • Create audio to brief to help realise their creative vision, revising based on feedback where necessary.

  • Participation in the creation of advertising video content, complementing visual work with engaging audio elements

  • Collaborating with game designers, producers and creatives in order to execute work in sync with several ongoing projects

Skills and Requirements
  • Proven experience in creating audio for games or multimedia applications.
  • Music / sound diploma or other relevant educational background oriented in music will be an added asset.
  • Knowledge of Sound Editing and mixing audio to project specifications enhances the audio visual appeal of the project.
  • Master at finding unique sounds and creative methods to achieve audio effects to engage player/viewer and make the project more effective
  • Knowledge of sound recording programs such as Pro Tools, Logic, GarageBand, and QLab, along with various audio plug-ins. Facility with audio equipment (including microphones, mixing boards, amplifiers, speakers, compressors, and graphic equalizers).
  • Experience integrating audio into game engines (Unity) is a big plus.
  • Highly motivated, with a passion for audio and video games.
  • Self motivated and able to ideate and execute tasks on your own with accountability
  • Well organized and excellent communicator (spoken and written) and good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of implementation middleware (Fmod/wwise) is desirable but not essential

Grinding Gear Games is looking for an audio engineer to create audio for the 'dark and gritty' game, Path of Exile. We are looking for an avid gamer that has a deep understanding of our world and its themes. Your job will involve various aspects of audio work from sound design to implementation of assets. The ideal candidate has a firm grasp of engineering basics, context driven audio and creative sound design.

Requirements:
  • 2+ years experience in a related field (Studio work or Film/TV)
  • Experience with Pro Tools software
  • Basic experience with FMOD or other audio engine tools.
  • Self-motivation and self-reliance; ability to research and learn new tools quickly.
  • Excellent communications skills, and able to work within a team.
  • Passion for creating 'dark and gritty' sounds.
  • Deep understanding of our intellectual property (Path of Exile).
