Associate Sound Designer

Gearbox audio team is looking for an Assoc. (Jr.) sound designer. Our focus for this position is creativity, experimentation, recording, implementation and database management. We are looking for someone that is passionate about sound design and constantly pushes themselves to learn more. If you are that person we are here for you and want to help you evolve.

This is a Jr. position so we aren’t concerned with titles shipped as much as we are looking for someone who has explored sound design and has a firm understanding of the principles through trial and error. Maybe you have been recording source and experimenting with layering sounds, or you have been involved in the authoring of audio for indie projects. Either way we are interested in you as long as you share our passion for game audio.

Requirements:

  • Experience with field recording.
  • Strong passion for creating audio content for games
  • Driven desire to learn sound design techniques and grow skill set
  • Basic understanding of the principles of sound design, and the role sound design has in player feedback and immersion.
  • Understanding of the game audio pipeline or experience in a game engine

Your experience within the games industry will have seen you work on multiple high-profile console titles during your career. As the Lead Audio Designer, you’ll take responsibility for all aspects of audio production and will set quality standards for the rest of your team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of audio production.
