Podcasts Sound Designer
Company: Boston University – WBUR

Job description

The Sound Designer, Podcasts is a creative design position fully responsible for the production of WBUR broadcast quality audio through digital and/or analog audio editing and mixing. Working both independently and in collaboration with podcast producers, the Sound Designer, Podcasts edits and mixes podcasts for WBUR’s iLab, a podcast incubator that generates, implements, and develops brand new podcasts. Record and mix promotional announcements, and design other material as assigned by the Manager of Podcast Productions. Must have first rate engineering skills plus an imaginative/creative approach to audio production and sound design for media. Must be able to envision and shape the ideas producers propose for each piece; since this will require an ability to work conceptually without a defined structure, the development of each piece will be an ongoing conversation between the Sound Designer and producers rather than a set of directives. As such, clear communication and interpretive skills are critical.

Text Loc and Audio Project Manager

Job description

Temporary position – duration of approximately 3 months as of May 1st, 2017

The ideal candidate will have to
• Manage assigned text loc and audio projects from project initiation through release to operation
• Define, prioritize, track and manage requirements and deliverables
• Drive issue resolution and address contingencies in a timely manner
• Develop and maintain complex localization schedules and assign resources as required
• Create, track, and adhere to project budgets, schedules, and timelines. Expose, report on, and resolve deviations and variances. Ensure all projects are completed within designated timeframes
• Closely monitor financial status of localization projects, including creating accurate estimates, setting up project budget, tracking vendor contracts and invoices, performing financial closure at project end, and identifying and correcting budget overruns
• Develop project strategies and plans
• Proactively communicate with clients regarding project status, queries from translators, and other issues
• Identify, assign, schedule, supervise and train team members for projects (translators, reviewers, recording studios, sound engineers, voice directors)
• Prepare and distribute reports for clients and internal colleagues regarding status of projects
• Organize and lead project meetings
• Contribute to project management and cross-company initiatives, task-forces and general process improvements

Skills & experience required
• Excellent organizational/coordination abilities

• Ability to lead the project and the team
