What You’ll Do

The Audio Director will play the leading role in establishing the audio vision and roadmap for an amazingly beloved and long lasting franchise. In this role, you will deliver a next level audio experience that celebrates the brand's iconic sonic landscape while taking it into the future. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader in sound design and audio production for mobile games who fosters teamwork and builds trust with leadership and developers alike.

As the ambition of this project is at the highest level, the successful candidate will be someone who will:

  • Lead, create, and establish the game’s audio vision, both artistic and technical, based on the creative direction of the project.
  • Build storytelling soundscapes that work in conjunction with animation, environment, and game design to create a deeply resonant experience.
  • Work with all other Directors to ensure audio direction is both synergised with and able to enhance all other game elements.
  • Design and implement complex audio element integration processes by working in close collaboration with Engineering.
  • Proactively promote project audio throughout project development and prototyping, encouraging focus on sound during playtests and review sessions.
  • Manage music direction for the project, coordinating with artists/composers, producing score, and integrating all music for an alluring gaming experience.
  • Define audio needs, timelines, and milestones clearly to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Manage the live service/multiplayer game experience and understand the evolving needs of audio in this space.
  • Navigate through ambiguity and embrace change with a positive mindset.
What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role for game audio, involved with full development cycles of multiple shipped titles.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in game audio, with a sharp focus on mobile and a deep understanding of cross-platform considerations.
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly in a software-first culture
  • Deep understanding designing audio systems from scratch in a video game environment.
  • Strong familiarity working with audio and Unity.
  • Musical composition experience as a producer, composer, and/or musician for a visual medium.
  • Expert understanding of foley, recording, mixing, sound design, implementation, scripting voice over, localization techniques and best practices.
  • Leadership with the development of game development tools, technology and pipelines.
  • Multiple projects leading and working with external game dev partners.

SFX Designer

Job description

Gunfire Games is looking for a creative and passionate audio designer for our upcoming titles. The SFX designer works closely with Design to develop high-quality sound effects that align with the game’s style and enhance gameplay, narrative, and overall player engagement. The ideal candidate has a keen attention to detail, a passion for gaming, and is highly self-motivated. Position may be performed remotely but must be working within the US. This is for an associate to mid-level role. Level will be determined by evaluating candidate’s skills, experience, and other professional considerations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with Design and Programming to understand the audio needs and creative vision for the project(s).

  • Create original sound effects that align with the game’s style and narrative.

  • Implement sound effects using audio middleware and game engines, ensuring seamless integration with gameplay mechanics.

  • Continuously iterate on sound designs based on feedback from development team and playtesting.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Sound Design, Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field OR at least 1 year of game audio experience

  • Proficiency with Pro Tools, Nuendo, Reaper, or equivalent DAW

  • Solid working knowledge of audio production plugins

  • Working knowledge of Unreal and Blueprint scripting

  • Working under an Audio lead, you will contribute to a well defined area of a project’s sound design, both creatively and technically. Additional workload or exposure to new areas is down to your choice and abilities.
  • You will create content inline with existing designs and implement this into the game using our Frostbite engine.
  • Through playtesting and feedback sessions you will refine the content and it´s supporting logic, to improve quality, ensure it is fit for purpose, encode as much relevant information as possible into the sound/soundscape and that the feature is optimised and free from bugs and errors.
  • As part of the Audio team you will provide and respond to audio feedback and be an active mixer for your and your subteam’s assets and provide feedback on the titles overall mix.
Qualifications:
  • You must be currently enrolled at a university or education provider that has a planned internship period planned. For example, LiA.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience of sound designing and then implementing quality assets into a game engine, from both a creative and technical standpoint. Linear (only) experience is also acceptable.

Position Summary

As a Sound Design Lead, you will be responsible for creating and implementing high quality sound effects within Unity while overseeing and managing the workflow of the Audio team. You will champion a large portion of the audio development within the company while discussing and implementing feedback from the Game Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and implement outstanding sound effects and bring the overall soundscape to the highest quality- Design audio with the intention to foster a satisfying experience for players while maintaining the established aesthetic of the soundscape- Self-sufficiently manage your teams workflow and maintain thorough communication with the audio team- Design exciting combat sound effects for players and enemies including magic, melee and enemy vocals- You will closely collaborate with other disciplines like level design, game design, VFX, animation, programming, to create an emotional and high-quality experience for the players.
Personal Qualifications
