A Sound Designer at Coatsink is part of a small team responsible for assessing, planning, designing and implementing sound effects using industry standard equipment and software, which enhances the end product.

As a Sound Designer, you will work closely with other members of the team, supporting the overall team dynamic and output, as well as colleagues in other development departments to ensure that the audio works optimally to create and enhance the game’s vision.

Responsibilities
  • Use industry standard tools and equipment to design and implement sound effects (i.e. DAW, FMOD, Unity).
  • Create original, or edit existing, compelling sound effects by means of recording, synthesis and sample library.
  • Work in many different styles to adhere to the needs of the project.
  • Implement sound effects into middleware and prepare assets for use by other departments.
  • Work with other development departments and individuals to plan and create a projects sound scape.
  • Work independently while being organised and keeping a record of documentation on features you have designed that will be used by the wider team.
  • Communicate and apply an in-depth knowledge of fundamental audio processes.
  • Produce assets on time and execute feedback quickly.
  • Plan and execute recording sessions when necessary.
  • Manage and maintain a well organised sample library.
  • Work on multiple projects while keeping assets organised and available.

Experience
  • A minimum of two years working in the games industry.

Job Tasks:
  • Work closely within the audio team to design and produce original audio content which delivers gameplay immersion and elevates the Payday experience;
  • Champion audio direction, advocate audio excellence and deliver that one-of-a-kind experience Payday players have come to expect;
  • Collaborate with design, narrative, art and engineering teams to provide input and direction to achieve interactive sound, voice and music;
  • Implement audio assets using Wwise, UE4 and proprietary tools.
Must Have:
  • 4+ years working as a sound designer, preferably with game industry experience;
  • Passionate about the audio experience and committed to a cross-discipline and playtest-driven development environment;
  • Exceptional knowledge of Wwise and strong competence with Unreal Blueprints;
  • Fluency with common DAWs with a strong understanding of game audio, game platform limitations and performance optimization;
  • Experience with studio and field recording, signal flow, processing and mixing;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sound design and all stages involved in delivering a crafted aural experience in-game;
  • Great with time estimations, organization and prioritizing;

The Opportunity

The Casting Producer will be in charge of helping to cast and hire voice actors in accordance with clients' budgets and the project’s creative requirements. He/she will be responsible for leading negotiations with actors and agencies for all bookings. The Casting Producer must have a vast knowledge of a large range of actors and an extensive understanding of their abilities and voice characteristics. The Casting Producer must also possess a thorough appreciation of changing market demands and trends within voice production/localization in the video game and media entertainment industry. The Casting Producer will also help to broaden the existing pool of talent and continually seek new voices when demand increases, and expand our casting services to accommodate a large volume of projects. The Casting Producer oils the cogs of the facility ensuring things run smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

What You'll Do:
  • Study project details and casting material such as character descriptions, scripts, images, voice samples, etc., to understand casting requirements.
  • Send casting references and recording assets to actors/agencies for home reads.
  • Own and organize our actor database in order to easily search and find talent.
  • Negotiate with actors and vendors according to the project budget and specification.
  • Provide the list of candidate actors to clients through Project Managers (PMs) for the final confirmation as necessary.
  • Upload samples to client casting platforms as required, or email castings as applicable.
  • Contact actors/agencies to hold and book actors and determine all recording schedules.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and actors/agencies and nurture those relationships.
  • Find replacements, as needed, during production for actors who can't complete their roles.
