As a Senior Sound Designer you will be involved in virtually every aspect of game audio content and create audio experiences that meld story and personality with gameplay. In this role you’ll be a huge part in creating our exciting new IP by producing iconic sound and gameplay cues while bringing innovative ideas and techniques to life. Arguably 50 % of the user experience is audio, who else can say that!?

In this role, you will
  • Help raise the quality level of audio in all game titles and technologies
  • Push the development of audio features and integration for future Unreal audio engine development
  • Evangelize Unreal Engine as a leader in the interactive audio space by developing and sharing cutting edge creative and technical audio techniques with the broader game development community
  • Play the game regularly and continually identify opportunities to improve audio quality
Expectations for the Senior Sound Designer:
  • Designing immersive and rich sound effects to engage players and drive the title’s narrative
  • Previous experience in Research and Development, or multiple full cycles of pre-production through ship on a AAA scale game
  • Familiarity with Unreal Blueprints
  • Implementation and authoring of sound design using middleware and scripting tools to bring soundscapes to life
  • Mastery over the entire sound creation process from field/studio recording, editing, designing, to implementation, debugging, and runtime systems
  • Fluent in interactive audio and postproduction techniques
  • Expert command of sound design & mixing techniques, processes, and tools
  • Multi-specialized, able to create world class audio content spread across multiple styles
  • Imaginative use of audio production tools, Foley performance and capture, props, and recording techniques to create high quality original content
  • Familiar with authoring techniques within commercial middleware (WWISE, FMOD, etc…)
  • Experience working with game development teams and coordinating with various game departments such as animation, level design, AI, physics, mechanics, etc.
  • You’re user-focused, passionate, scrappy, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Mutant Arm Studios and influence everything we do
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to rapidly changing situations

Editor/Producer, Radiolab

Radiolab, a pioneer of narrative nonfiction podcasting, is looking for an Editor/Producer to join our team. We’re seeking an ambitious, deep-thinking, deep-feeling journalist who is obsessed with great stories, eager to help our team tackle the big questions facing our world today, and committed to our goal of expanding the diversity of voices on our show.

For this hybrid role, we're looking for an experienced editor with producing chops. While this is mainly an editor role, this person will also be responsible for producing episodes from the ground-up at times. The multifaceted nature of this job will give the Editor/Producer the opportunity to work across all aspects of our production process and thus have a big influence on our coverage. As editor, this team member will weigh in on pitches, oversee construction of stories and episodes, develop relationships with potential collaborators, and bring in new voices and diverse perspectives to the show; as producer, they will generate story ideas, conduct interviews, cut tape, write narration and at times voice it on air.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Bring in new ideas, stories, and contributors from a wide range of perspectives
  • Work with producers to turn ideas into pitches, and pitches into episodes
  • Help the Radiolab team decide on pitches that will be greenlit
  • Work with producers to decide on a diverse lineup of interviewees and craft questions
  • Listen to tape and outline first drafts of episodes
  • Experiment relentlessly with story construction
  • When producing a piece, participate in all aspects of the process, from pre-interviewing guests to booking, interviewing, cutting tape, building drafts, selecting music and liaising with the fact-checker
  • Ensure reporting is journalistically sound
  • Write and produce content for web, newsletter, social media, and other platforms as needed
  • Collaborate closely with senior editorial team
Key qualifications:
  • At least five years experience producing, reporting and/or editing in long-form narrative audio, and/or comparable experience in a related field
  • Preferably has experience creating stories similar to the ones heard on Radiolab
  • Has a clear grasp of what makes a surprising, impactful and complicated story that could be heard on Radiolab
  • Has a proven ability to develop story arc and narrative
  • Has solid journalism skills including: interviewing, database research and fact checking
  • Has experience with linear editing software (ProTools, Logic, et cetera)
  • Sense of humor is a plus

Created in 2002 by host Jad Abumrad, and now co-hosted by Lulu Miller and Latif Nasser, Radiolab began as an exploration of science, philosophy, and ethics using innovative composition and sound design. Radiolab has expanded and evolved to become a platform for long-form journalism and storytelling. The show challenges its listeners’ preconceived notions about how the world works.
